http://www.sundancevillas.co.uk/page.asp?page=disabilitesShe can also arrange a boat trip with a pool hoist. This month one of our clients swam in the sea for the first time in 15 years.
As carer for my husband, we were all very impressed by the quality of the equipment at the villa, as it is so important for disabled people to have confidence in what they are using, it takes the stress out of it.. Don used the pool hoist a lot, it easily coped with his weight around 17 stone. We would then use the shower chair to transfer him from the wet room at the poolside, back to the downstairs bedroom, very practical. The commode was excellent, the top lifted off and could be placed over the w.c. which meant Don had the handles of it to support himself. Nicole booked us on the Latchi blue lagoon boat trip, the one with the hoist. Don has not been in the sea for about 15 years. When we arrived at Latchi and saw the boat we were apprehensive, but soon Don was on the boat (no disabled loo) and we were on our way. When we got to the beautiful blue lagoon near the Baths of Aphrodite, Don agreed to be lowered into the warm sea in the hoist. With 15 years to make up for, Don swam around enjoying every moment. (In the end, the boat skipper had to ask me to ask Don to re board, he was in the sea the longest and did not want to get out!) And on top of this wonderful time, my cousins partner proposed to her back at the villa. She has been a widow for 17 years so this was a memorable moment and time for celebration.
This was a holiday where Don felt like everyone else, he could join in. This is so important. Many thanks to you all and we are now looking to book for 2011 with Sundance Villas
