It would be really handy to have a list of care agencies and equipment hire companies that people can recommend, for all over the world really.

I use them from Benidorm, but these two cover a large area round Alicanti Airport.

This unique section of the SIA website allows you to search, by geographical region, a register of companies providing the opportunity to rent aids and equipment for a short duration.

We visited Perth, Western Australia in October (going again in May!).  I hired a shower/toilet chair from Independent Living Centre which cost me around £5 per week!  They have all kinds of equipment and information.  It's really for residents, but they are happy to loan to visitors.  Look at their web site:  ilcaustralia.org/contact states.asp?States=WA
Getting to Australia wasn't exactly as enjoyable as pre sci, but well worth the inconvenience once we got there. Fabulous country, and WA is very accessible.

Well!  I can't believe what a shit response I am getting to this thread.  Come on people!

oh well.

This is a good place with access.  It is best if you phone them direct and ask them for a price for the kind of bungalo that you want.  http://www.nautilus-lanzarote.com/index.html
It is also best if you ask them to book you a taxi, by phoning them when you arrive, or simply going to the taxi station outside.  I made the mistake of booking direct through a travel advisor, and it cost me five times what it would normally cost, nobody welcome to me, and I still had to wait 35 minutes for an accessible cab when I found the station.

This place does wheelchairs hoists beds etc Island Mobility [d@islandmobility.eu]
Although in my opinion the prices are a bit too expensive..

My experience of this PA service was excellent and the value was good. Christine Collins [starlightservicesscp@yahoo.com]

i HAVE NOT RESPONDED TO THIS BECAUSE I DO NOT TRAVEL ABROAD AND AS SO MANY PEOPLE COME FROM DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE GLOBE - MOSTLY USA - WHILST OTHERS ARE FROM ENGLAND - IT WOULD NOT APPLY.

THERE ARE NOT TOO MANY PEOPLE FROM SCOTLAND.

OR, IT COULD BE LIKE ME, NOT TOO MANY PEOPLE TRAVEL SO HAVE NOTHING TO CONTRIBUTE.
