Sorry to disappoint. I can help with most medical things but I am not well versed on insurance! I only know that dependng on what is wrong with you and depending on the insurance company it can be quite expensive.

I cannot see cauda equina syndrome affecting insurance, don't know about spinal muscular atrophy.

You have to be TOTALLY HONEST about all your conditions. I know someone who is in a chair and suffers from cancer, trying to organise a dream trip to Disneyland and the insurance company wanted £10,000 because to them you are "a risk." You must remember that it is not due to your disability they put you at risk it is what they must pay out of anything happens to you whilst there. So, to go to USA with terminal cancer, they presume something is going to go wrong. Where you are aware of having a pre-existing medical or disabling condition YOU MUST REVEAL THIS.

Can I suggest the following link:

Also, this one can give quotes where you have pre-existing disabling conditions:-

Sorry, cant be more help than this.

Try Sainsburys travel insurance.

I used them for my 6 week trip to New Zealand last year, and Barcelona and Lanzarote this year.

They were the best we could find, and we bought an annual family policy.

Also,

Check the difference in price between a "one off policy", against an "annual policy". It may be worth paying an extra couple of pounds and getting the annual policy if you go on holiday more than once a year.

Remember, these policies cover you in the UK as well. Most people don't think of policies for UK holidays, but if you have to cancel at late notice, you should be covered.

As I said, I was really suprised at Sainsburys, and they were the cheapest I could find after disclosing I was a Quadriplegic with a baclofen pump.

Regards

Simon.

Anyone who goes abroad on holiday without insurance is a nutter in my opinion. I know someone who did, then broke their neck whilst they were there and the family sobbed to the papers about how wrong it was that it would cost £30K to fly him home in an ambulance plane! It was then discovered that he had no insurance.

In this case - there was nobody else to blame but himself. He god pissed and jumped off a balcony maintaining he was batman and could fly.
